Cancellation Policy Ireland 2020-21

Our Cancellation Policy 2020 - 2021

We know that times are uncertain and you may have some concerns about what will happen to your booking if you are unable to get to University, to put your mind at ease we have the following 3 promises:

If you have any questions, please contact our residence teams who will be happy to help.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Unless the context otherwise requires, words and expressions defined in your Licence to Reside (“Licence”) shall have the same meanings in this Cancellation Policy.

Bookings made prior to 1 June 2020*

If you sign your Licence prior to 1 June 2020 and you have not collected the keys to your Room, you may cancel your booking and terminate the Licence, by giving notice in writing or by e-mail to the General Manager at the Residence, at any time during the period of twenty eight (28) days after the date on which you sign your Licence (the “Stage 1 Cooling-Off Period”). Once we receive such a notice, we will confirm receipt, cancel your booking and terminate the Licence and will refund your Advance Room Fee Payment of €300, together with any other Room Fees you may have paid.

Bookings made on or after 1 June 2020*

If you sign your Licence on or after 1 June 2020 and you have not collected the keys to your Room, you may cancel your booking and terminate the Licence, by giving notice in writing or by e-mail to the General Manager at the Residence, at any time within the period of fourteen (14) days of the date on which you sign your Licence (the “Stage 2 Cooling-Off Period”). Once we receive such a notice, we will confirm receipt, cancel your booking and terminate the Licence and will refund your Advance Room Fee Payment of €300, together with any other Room Fees you may have paid.

Cancelling outside the Stages 1 and 2 Cooling-Off Periods*

Outside the Stages 1 and 2 Cooling-Off Periods, your right to terminate the Licence will be governed by the specific terms of the Licence and/or, if applicable, in accordance with the Residential Tenancies Acts. Without prejudice to those terms, any request to terminate the Licence must be made by giving at least twenty eight (28) days notice in writing or by e-mail to the General Manager at the Residence for consideration. Where a right to terminate does not apply, you will remain liable for the Room Fee payable under the Licence until a suitable replacement resident has been found. In addition, should a suitable replacement resident be found, you will, in accordance with the terms of your Licence, be required to pay a fee of €50.

*If you are an existing customer and have a Licence for 2019/20 and you cancel your new 2020/21 Licence in accordance with this Cancellation Policy, any discount or rent refund you may have been offered or received in relation to your 2019/20 Licence as part of the Student Support Programme, will cease to apply and you will be required to pay the full amount of rent payable under your existing 2019/20 Licence.

One less worry if you don’t receive your grades

This is applicable to prospective first-year undergraduate students only

If you are not successful in obtaining your place at your chosen University, then don’t worry, we can help. Firstly, we may be able to transfer you to another one of our residences if you are going to study elsewhere. If you are not going to study elsewhere or we do not have accommodation available in your new city/town of study, we will release you from your Licence provided the following criteria are met:

  1. You submit your request to cancel, in writing or by e-mail to the General Manager at the Residence, before 17th August 2020; and
  2. You provide the General Manager with a copy of your rejection letter/CAO from the University that shows that you did not get on a course in the same city.

Once we have your request, we will confirm receipt and refund your Advance Room Fee Payment of €300, together with any other Room Fees you may have paid.
